La Ceiba is a lovely port city nestled on the north coast of Honduras in Central America. Located on the southern edge of the Caribbean Sea, this city is part of the south eastern boundary of the Gulf of Honduras. La Ceiba is a friendly city with a “small town vibe”. It is surrounded by lush, verdant jungles, breathtaking mountains, majestic rivers, and sandy beaches.
This historical city has been officially proclaimed the “Eco-Tourism Capital of Honduras”, as well as the “Entertainment Capital of Honduras”, and it wears those distinctions with pride. La Ceiba also knows how to have fun, with oodles of things to do for every interest, and every year on the third or fourth Saturday of May, the city holds its famous carnival to commemorate Isidore the Laborer (San Isidro Labrador). During this festive time, the city hosts approximately 500,000 tourists and revelers.
